Stable Space is an equine-assisted learning business that blends the healing presence of horses with nature-based experiences to support personal growth, mindfulness, and connection. Our programs include camps, workshops, and individual sessions designed for children, teens, and adults.
Stable Space has been in operation for two years and is currently run by a single owner/facilitator. As a small and growing organization, tasks will vary from week to week depending on programming, projects, and seasonal needs. PAID CONTRACT ROLE
Equine-Assisted Learning Professional
Weโre seeking a warm, highly skilled, and horse-savvy EAL Professional to join our team. This is a part-time contract role ideal for someone seeking meaningful, flexible work that makes a real impact. Youโll partner with our horses to facilitate ground-based (non-riding) sessions that inspire growth and learning. All clients are provided by Stable Spaceโno need to bring your own clientele.
The Role
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging EAL sessions tailored to participant needs (children, teens, and/or adults).
Build supportive, trusting relationships with participants while prioritizing safety.
Catch, groom, and hand-lead horses; ensure their comfort and readiness.
Observe and interpret horse behavior to guide meaningful interactions.
Manage client scheduling and session details (billing handled by Stable Space).
Complete session notes and documentation.
Understand the distinctions between EAL, TR, EAP, and psychotherapy.
Participate in biweekly 30-60 minute consultation meetings (paid).
Care for horses with compassion and respect.
What Weโre Looking For
Certified or actively pursuing certification in Equine-Assisted Learning (PATH, Eagala, Natural Lifemanship, HERD Institute, ARCHES, etc.).
Confident horsemanship skills: catching, leading, grooming, and reading equine body language.
Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skillsโwarm, patient, and adaptable.

Help Stable Space grow community awareness and engagement through creative outreach. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with
people and sharing meaningful stories about our programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinating feature articles, event listings, and advertisements with local publications.
Identifying and scheduling video or social media segments with local personalities or organizations.
Researching and selecting at least two community fairs, markets, or festivals to attend on behalf of Stable Space.

Supply & Organization Volunteer
Ideal for those who excel at creative problem-solving
and making systems efficient. Since Stable Space is a mobile business, strong organization and
consistency are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving, sorting, and organizing supplies to ensure they are ready for transport.
Developing creative organization systems that make packing, moving, and setup efficient.
Labeling bins, containers, and storage areas for clarity.
Creating and maintaining an online wish list for needed supplies.
Researching and shopping for the best deals to maximize resources and stay within budget.
Creating and updating a spreadsheet to keep
track of inventory.
This volunteer role is hands-on, flexible, and ideal for someone who enjoys making spaces function better.
Developement Volunteer
Support Stable Spaceโs growth and sustainability by building and maintaining relationships
with community sponsors to fund scholarship opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Researching, identifying, and reaching out to potential community sponsors.
Creating and updating sponsorship packages.
Sending thank-you notes, cards, and photos to donors and sponsors.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of donations in a shared spreadsheet.
Supporting the Stable Moments Campaign,
Stable Spaceโs annual online fundraiser.

Program Volunteers
About the Role: Program Volunteers help create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for participants and horses. Youโll assist facilitators, support participants,
and ensure the well-being of our equine friends. Sessions range from 1-day events to 4-8 week programs.

Assist with horse care, modeling safe grooming and handling techniques.
Help set up and clean up program spaces, keeping the arena and barn organized.

Open Paid Positions
Equine Specialist
- Help select appropriate horses for activities.
- Ensure barn space is clean, organized, and ready for programming.
- Prepare, organize, and occasionally transport supplies for camps and programs.
- Support the flow of activities during camps and group sessions.
- Help supervise program participants (no activity facilitation required).
- Lead or sidewalk horses, as needed, during programming.
- Ensure a welcoming, calm, and safe environment for all participants.
- Help manage and communicate with volunteers during programs.
- At end of programming, ensure materials are put away, gates are latched, and horses are secured in stalls or pasture.
- Experience handling horses.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior and nonverbal communication.
- Commitment to a high standard of equine welfare and adherence to gentle horsemanship.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage physical materials and digital systems efficiently.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
Program Facilitator

Lead nature-based, social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons, discussions, and activities for small groups; work closely with the Program Director and Equine Specialist(s). Curriculum is provided, and input on curriculum is welcomed. Typical program activities include:
- Icebreaker and community-building activities.
- Explicit SEL instruction.
- Horse grooming focused on nonverbal communication, mutual respect, and mindfulness.
- Nature walks focused on connection to nature and self.
- Horse leading focused on partnership, leadership, and boundary setting.
- Flexible art creation focused on reflection and self-expression.
- Background in nature-based programming, education, or mental health.
- Strong communication skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with children or group facilitation.
